The Big Agathis Tree and the Squirels
Right here, there used to be a big Agathis tree. From time to time squirrels used to climb and moved playfully around the tree. As young boys in the family then, we, 2 or 3 of us would surround the tree in efforts to try and catch the squirrels. Never once did we succeeded, either we were too small and inexperienced to catch them, or the squirrels were too clever for us then.
In memory of our yesteryears experiences with the squirrels; we have now released a few species of squirrels among the eucalyptus and “tandaramai” trees along the little stream. If you are lucky you may find and see some of them happily jumping from tree to tree.
As for the big Agathis tree, we have now planted a Petai tree. If you recognize the Petai tree, you would be able to see it right in front of you.
At Soboroong, this is our contribution to environment rehabilitation and protection. Thank you for supporting our efforts.
