Water Sources in the 1960s

This little bridge is constructed to ensure your crossing of the little stream is as ‘safely and comfortable’ as possible.

The little stream that you are looking at, at the moment, was one of our sources of water in the 60s and early 70s - not only for cleaning and bathing but also for drinking and cooking. Back then the water was so crystal clear and pure as upstream human-based activities where the water source originated were non- existence.

Today, the water is still clear but not advisable for drinking or cooking without further treatment. This was the result of the heavy agricultural-based and economic activities upstream.

You would notice that we have planted a lot of trees along both sides of the little stream, especially Eucalyptus pellita and Eucalyptus hybrid trees. The planting of trees is part of our efforts to stop land erosion as well as to hopefully improve the water quality.

Rest assured; there are many little fishes living in the water…
